Diving Australia Postpones January Domestic Grand Prix

Published Thu 13 Jan 2022

Out of an abundance of caution, and to minimise risk to athletes and support staff, the 2022 Australian Domestic Grand Prix has been postponed from its previously scheduled January 22 start date.

The postponement comes after consultation with event officials, coaching staff, and medical personnel, and in light of the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in both the greater Brisbane region and across the country. We are hugely disappointed to be making this announcement but health and safety is always of paramount importance. We encourage athletes and coaches to, where safe, take advantage of State based competition opportunities.

Diving Australia will now consult with stakeholders to begin work on finding an alternate date to hold the event that brings together Australia’s top divers.

Australian divers and their coaches remain steadfast in their preparation for April’s Australian Open Championships, the qualifying event for the 19th FINA World Championships to be held in Fukuoka and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
