About Cassiel

Relatively new to the sport of diving, Cassiel Rousseau quickly found his feet (or rather his hands) in the sport. Cassiel hit the ground running when he switched from acrobatic gymnastics in 2017. A year later he was crowned an Australian Elite Junior Champion. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Cassiel made the final of the Men’s 10-Metre Platform. In 2023 Rousseau became Australia's first ever World Champion in the Men's 10-Metre Platform and was acknowledged by World Aquatics as its Diver of the Year for the same year.

  • How did you get your start in diving? My sister was trialing for diving, so mum forced me to do it!
  • What has been the greatest influence on your sporting career? My grandfather.
  • Who is your diving inspiration? I don't really have one, but I would say all my peers and competitors.
  • What do you love about diving? I love competing against my peers, and the consistency required.
  • Most challenging part of diving? Consistency is the hardest part!
  • Favourite place to dive: I am not sure, but probably Japan.
  • Hobbies outside of diving: Photography, motorbike riding, my puppy and...my girlfriend!
  • If you were not a diver, what sport would you do? Probably none :-)
