Diving Australia is pleased to acknowledge the appointment of two Australians, Bree Bryant and Joey Zuber, to World Aquatics Technical Committees, reflecting Australia’s ongoing influence and leadership across the sport globally.
Olympic silver medallist, Bree Bryant has been named on the World Aquatics Technical Diving Committee (TDC), bringing her extensive experience as an athlete, judge, and leader to the role. Meanwhile, former Cliff Diving Champion Joey Zuber will continue his work on the World Aquatics Technical High Diving Committee (THDC), helping to guide the development and international profile of the spectacular discipline.
Diving Australia CEO, Alex Newton, welcomed both appointments and highlighted their significance for Australian diving.
“It’s fantastic to see Bree appointed to the TDC. Her experience as an Olympic medallist, judge, and respected leader in the sport, makes her an invaluable voice for both Australia and the Oceania region.”
“I’m thrilled that Joey will continue to serve on the THDC for World Aquatics. His ongoing role ensures he can help shape the sport’s future, elevate its global profile, and advocate strongly for its inclusion in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.”
Bryant said she was honoured to take on the new position.
“I’m truly excited for the opportunity to contribute to the TDC and to support the continued growth of our sport on the world stage.”
Zuber also expressed his enthusiasm about continuing his work with the high diving discipline.
“High diving is one of the most thrilling and fastest-growing aquatic sports, and I’m grateful for the chance to continue collaborating with my colleagues at World Aquatics to grow its reach and ensure its future success.”
Alongside celebrating these new appointments, Diving Australia wishes to acknowledge and thank Eric Brooker for his outstanding service to the World Aquatics TDC and his decades of dedication to the sport.
Eric began his career in diving as an athlete in the 1970s before becoming a coach, administrator, and official. He guided and developed numerous athletes, including Olympic silver medallist Mathew Helm, and in 2012 served as Australia’s diving judge at the London Olympic Games.
As a long-serving member of the World Aquatics TDC, Eric dedicated his time to developing judges worldwide. He also made a lasting impact at the national level as a former President of Diving NSW, a former Board Member of Diving Australia, and in 2023 was awarded Life Membership of Diving Australia.
Diving Australia Board Chair Hayden Collins paid tribute to Eric.
“On behalf of the Board and the wider Australian diving community, we extend our sincere gratitude to Eric for his incredible commitment and expertise over the past 12 years as a member on the TDC. His leadership, passion, and vision have left a legacy for our sport, both here in Australia and across the globe.”
