ROUSSEAU NOW TWO-TIME WORLD CHAMPION

Published Mon 04 Aug 2025

Cassiel Rousseau, 'King Cass', lit up the OCBC Aquatic Centre in Singapore tonight, sealing the Gold Medal in the Men's 10-metre Platform with a final dive score of 99.90 to become World Champion for the second time.

Rousseau delivered a sensational masterclass across all six dives in the final, amassing a total of 534.80 points to claim the title for a second time, following a historic win in 2023 where he became the first Australian diver to ever win the Men's 10m Platform event at a World Aquatic Championships.

The 24-year-old Queenslander held off strong challenges from Ukraine’s Oleksii Sereda (515.20) and Mexico’s Randal Willars Valdez (511.95), confirming his status as one of the sport’s elite. His execution, difficulty, and composure under pressure once again set the standard on the world stage.

Still in shock after his win, Rousseau shared his elation. "It's unexpected really to do this twice. It shows how good of a support team I have here in Singapore and back at home in Brisbane. It's been an incredible couple of weeks training and competing in all the events. This is just really unexpected."

Known for his calm composure during competition, Rousseau shared what was going through his head late in the final rounds.

"Yeah, I did get a little bit nervous, I think it was after my back dive when I dropped it a little and then others started dropping their dives and I looked at the TV and it showed me coming first and I thought damn, I now have to land on my head for the next two dives and it [the gold] possibly could be mine again.

"That puts a huge fire in you but I put that down as excitement rather than nervousness and I just tried to put my best on," he said.

Diving Australia Head Coach and Rousseau's long time coach Ady Hinchliffe said, "This is a well deserved result for Cassiel Rousssau, who has again shown that he is amongst the best diving elite of this generation. A perfect plan with an athlete who has contributed heavily to his own preparation alongside a fantastic support team at Diving Australia and the QAS. This historic outcome backs up his win in 2023 as he gains more momentum towards even bigger goals in LA2028."

"A fitting result for me to step back from my coaching  duties and embark on my new role as Head Coach and performance director. Really looking forward to supporting Cass and the rest of the Diving Australia athletes in a new way as we chase our ambitions for 2028 and 2032."

In 2024, Rousseau placed fourth in the Men's Synchronised 10 Platform event at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, after choosing to focus on the synchro competition instead of defending his individual title before the Paris Olympics where he also finished fourth.
