COVID-19 UPDATE 27 May

Published Wed 27 May 2020

Hi Everyone,

It has been a little while since we have updated you all and I hope you will forgive me for that. I (and the Board) have been keeping in regular touch with David Bell and he has been working collaboratively with the State Association CEO’s on Return to Play Guidelines for diving. The Board has approved these Guidelines and as mentioned below, they are being used to try to get pools opened around Australia for diving.

Each of your Clubs should already have a copy of these but I wanted to ensure that everybody has a chance to read them and see the kind of things that will be needed when we all are allowed back to pools. David and the State CEO’s have been discussing these with the major pools in Australia and we are hopeful high performance will be back everywhere shortly. I firmly believe that once high performance gets back, it will be a much easier task to then get grassroots back shortly after and we are doing what we can to get that up and running as soon as possible.

It is absolutely a challenging time, but I sincerely thank you all for your patience. I know that DA and the State Associations will shortly be writing to you to outline significant discounts for the upcoming (20/21) membership year, to try to offset some of the challenges of this year.

I would also like to let you know that Sport Australia have just released a suite of resources to help Clubs and others in returning to training. Those resources are available here. They are comprehensive and I am sure you will find them of great assistance, coupled with the DA Guidelines, in getting ready for your return to the pool – which we think is not far off! Of course, each State is different, so keep in touch with your relevant State Association, and DA if needs be.

All the best to you all and I am looking forward to seeing you on a pool deck, a bit later this year!
