National Skills Final

 

 

The primary focus of the National Skills Final is to increase the number of athletes in the Diving Australia (DA )performance Pathway that have the potential to progress into the pathway programme developing the potential and  skills required for long term sucess, with the ultumate aim of representin Australia on the world stage.

2019 marked the inaugural year of the Diving Australia National Skills Final (NSF) with great success. An exciting national competition for divers aged 13 years and under from around Australia. The competition assesses a number of skills both in and out of the diving pool. This event aims to develop the next generation of the worlds best divers by giving young developmental divers a rounded technical and physical base. Divers need to be strong in both areas to excel in the overall results.

The skills focus upon developing vital diving elements including: 

  • Posture
  • Tension
  • Form
  • Balance
  • Sequence/Timing
  • Strength
  • Flexibility

There are two separate age categories: 11 years and under & 12 & 13 years (age as of the 31st of December). Both age categories have the same skill requirements and boys and girls are scored against each other (i.e. there are no sperate gender categories).
