We go to Rio - Aussie stars ready to take on the world at World Junior Champs

Fifteen of Australia’s best junior divers are in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, preparing to take on the world at the 2024 World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships set to get underway on Sunday night. 

This is the largest national team Australia has taken to a World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships, with just six of the 15 athletes returning to the international stage to compete in their second Junior World Champs. 

Lucy Dovison is one of the returning team members who made quite the debut at the 2022 World Junior Champs in Canada, picking up a silver medal in the Girls B 3m Springboard and a bronze in the Girls A/B 3m Synchro. 

Another Junior World Champs veteran Ruby Drogemuller is set to partner up with Paris Olympian Ellie Cole in the Girls A/B 10m Synchro event early Monday morning. 

The duo will be hoping to replicate their recent successes in the event where they clinched gold at both the 2024 Canada Cup of Diving and the 2024 American Cup. 

A successful meet at the TYR Junior America Cup will see athletes such as Maggie Grey (1st place Girls B Platform, 1st place Girls A/B Platform Synchro), Deanna Drake (1st place Girls B Platform, 3rd place Girls B 1 - Metre), Ben Wilson (2nd place Boys A/B 3-Metre Synchro, 3rd place Boys A 1-Metre, 3rd place Boys A 3-Metre) and Lachlan Abbott (2nd place Boys A/B 3-Metre Synchro) take to take to the tower in red hot form. 

 The Sixth edition of the Champs is expected to feature over 250 competitors from over 40 nations and will run from Sunday November 24 to Monday December 2 at the Júlio Delamare Aquatic Park in Rio de Janeiro.
