WORLD CHAMPION KEENEY FINISHES ON TOP IN 1-METRE SPRINGBOARD

World champion Maddison Keeney has held off a strong challenge from Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Esther Qin, to win the women’s 1-metre springboard at the Gold Coast 2018 trials on Saturday. Keeney, who broke through for the biggest win of her career to win the 1-metre world title in Budapest earlier this year, finished on 573.60, with Qin second on 560.95.

O'BRIEN SHOWS BEST FORM IN PLATFORM FINAL

Rio Olympian Brittany O’Brien has finished on top in the women’s platform final at the diving trials for next year’s Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. The NSW teenager was trailing Western Australia’s Teju Williamson after the preliminary round of competition, but lifted her performance in the final to finish with a total of 602.35, ahead of Williamson’s 575.50.

KEENEY AND SMITH GET JOB DONE ON OPENING DAY OF GAMES TRIALS

Olympic bronze medallists Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith have won the 3-metre synchro gold medal on the opening day of the 2018 Commonwealth Games qualification event on the Gold Coast. Keeney and Smith, who also won bronze in the same event at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, have put themselves into the box seat to be nominated for selection for next year’s Games.

World Champion, Olympic and Commonwealth Games medallist Maddison Keeney heads a strong line-up for this week’s diving selection trials for next year’s Games on the Gold Coast. Australia’s most experienced diver, Melissa Wu, has been forced to withdraw from the Gold Coast trials because of a back injury, but is still a chance to be nominated by Diving Australia for selection for her fourth Commonwealth Games.

SILVER FOR BEDGGOOD ON FINAL DAY OF GOLD COAST GRAND PRIX

Australia’s Domonic Bedggood has won a silver medal in the men’s platform final on the final day of competition at the FINA Diving Grand Prix on the Gold Coast. But Australia’s two women’s springboard synchro teams both missed chances for a medal when they each recorded a no-dive during their final.

WORLD AND COMMONWEALTH CHAMPIONS TRIUMPH ON THE GOLD COAST

A current world champion and a Commonwealth Games gold medallist have been among the victors on the first day of finals in cold and windy conditions at the FINA Diving Grand Prix on the Gold Coast on Saturday. Australia, China, Malaysia and Great Britain shared the gold medals, with the experienced Melissa Wu teaming up with Adelaide’s Taneka Kovchenko to beat a small field in the women’s platform synchro.

ANOTHER STRONG PERFORMANCE FROM KEENEY AND SMITH ON WORLD STAGE

Australia’s Maddison Keeney has finished fifth and Anabelle Smith 11th in the 3-metre final at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Keeney, who broke through to win her first major international competition when she took gold in the 1-metre earlier in the week, finished the 3-metre with 335.50 points, with Chinese Olympic gold medallist, Shi Tingmao, taking first place with 383.50.

Australian diver James Connor has finished ninth in the final of the men’s springboard at the FINA World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. And in further good news for Australia, 1-metre world champion Maddison Keeney and her Olympic synchro bronze medal partner, Anabelle Smith, have both qualified for the individual final of the women’s 3-metre springboard.

WU PUTS IN SOLID PERFORMANCE IN PLATFORM FINAL

Melissa Wu has bounced back from a shaky semi-final to finish fifth in the women’s platform final at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest. 25-year-old Wu, competing in her fifth World Championships, only just scraped into the final after finishing 11th in Tuesday’s semi-final, but showed her class with a strong finals performance in a field full of Olympic medallists and World champions.

WU FIGHTS HARD TO EARN CHANCE FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MEDAL

Australian diver Melissa Wu has qualified for the final of the women’s platform at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, despite a few nervous moments. The three-time Olympian was at her brilliant best for the preliminary round, qualifying second behind Olympic gold medallist Qian Ren of China, with Chinese Olympic silver medallist Yajie Si third.
