2023 World Championships Trials come to a close

The final day of the 2023 World Championships Trials delivered plenty of tight moments, with Australian divers battling it out for team selection to compete at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships. Men’s 3-Metre Springboard final kick-started the day with established statesman Shixin Li holding onto his position as the superior competitor for the event finishing on a total of 1377.30 points.

Diving Australia’s four-day trials event to select the team to the 2024 World Aquatics Championships started in Brisbane on Sunday, with Australian divers battling it out for team selection.  The day got underway with the Men’s 10-Metre Platform Synchronised event and Cassiel Rousseau and Dominic Bedggood securing first place with a total of 805.74.

The final day of the 2023 Oceania Championships was not short on entertainment with tight competition across both disciplines.  Four Australian divers competed against their New Zealand counterparts with the goal of securing quotas for their country to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

DIVING TAKEN TO NEW HEIGHTS AT THE BRISBANE AQUATIC CENTRE

Diving is being taken to new heights at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre, courtesy of the addition of a new High Diving Training Aid. With funding from the Australian Institute of Sport, Diving Australia’s High Diving expert Joey Zuber, has developed a two-metre ‘box’, to take the height of Brisbane’s diving tower from 10 to 12 metres.

Beyond the Boards; a platform for the future

Beyond the Boards, Diving Australia’s (DA) Athlete Committee Athlete Support Grant Program is offering $20,000 in funding, to encourage and support eligible athletes to pursue professional development and educational opportunities, for life after sport.

Diving Australia has been working hard to develop its three national competitions, alongside the National Skills Finals and is pleased to announce a calendar of national events for 2024 with improvements reflecting the feedback received from members, officials, parents and athletes.
